Redskins' Taylor leaves with knee sprain

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Washington Redskins defensive end Jason Taylor left Saturday's preseason tuneup with the Carolina Panthers with a sprained right knee.
Taylor got his leg caught in a pile of players during a second quarter tackle of the Panthers DeAngelo Williams. He remained down on the field after the play and was in obvious pain. He left the field under his own power. His status will be further evaluated following the game.
The Redskins acquired the six-time Pro Bowl selection July 20 in a trade with Miami in exchange for a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-round pick in 2010.
The 2006 Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year and the 2007 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, Taylor has a league-high 100 1/2 sacks this decade and his 41 forced fumbles are 10 more than any other current NFL player. He has also recovered 23 fumbles, five of which he returned for touchdowns, tying him for the most in NFL history. His eight career touchdowns are the most by an NFL defensive lineman since the 1970 merger.
